CONFRONTATIONAL EVANGELISM is a method of evangelism useful in situations when you must make friends quickly. There are different variations of confrontational evangelism but they all have at least four of the same features. F.I.R.M.
F.I.R.M. stands for
F-
Friendly. Introduce yourself and friends with you. During this step, you should find something that you have in common with this person. A sports team could serve as a good common point.
I-
Interest. Find a similar interest with the individual, prayer needs.
R-
Religion. Ask a revealing question.
- What do you think it takes to get to heaven?
- Do you attend church?
- Are you religious?
- Do you think you will go to heaven?
- Do you ever think of spiritual things?
M-
Message. Ask that person if you can have 3 minutes of their time to share something that has changed your life.
RELATIONAL EVANGELISM is a method of evangelism which allows you more personal time with a non-believer while showing them Jesus is the way through your life.
- Begin to look for a person that you may already have things in common with to begin a friendship. You may already have a relationship with this person.
- Begin to spend time with this person building the friendship. Your intent should be to be witeness to Christ through your life.
- As the situation presents itself for you to tell this person about Christ, take it!
- Ask this person if they mind if you share something with them that changed your life.
OPPORTUNISTIC EVANGELISM is a method that involves being ready to share your faith at every moment. Many times a situation in someones life may cause them to be more receptive than other times. This is something God has allowed to take place in order for this person to be able to accept the gospel.
- Become passionate about reaching people with the gospel, otherwise, you may caught off guard and miss your chance to be used by God.
- Ask that person if you can have 3 minutes of their time to share something that has changed your life.
- Ask a revealing question.
